My work is constantly evolving. The wheel was my first love, and bowls are my favorite form. From 1976 to 2016, I maintained a clay studio in Columbia, Maryland, mixing my own glazes and firing my work in oxidation. In 2016 I moved and now work in a community studio in Silver Spring, again firing in oxidation.
My current functional work layers colors on form, using slabs as a canvas. The work is designed to be enjoyed through use or display.
I studied at the Cambridge, MA Adult Education Center, and was a Pottery Guild member of the Lexington, MA Arts and Crafts Society. After moving to Columbia, I took courses at Antioch College Columbia, and have taken numerous workshops with nationally known potters for continued learning and inspiration.
As a potter/sculptor, my work has been exhibited in solo shows at the Maryland Federation of Art City and Circle Galleries, Columbia Center for the Arts, and the Artists Gallery of Columbia. I’ve exhibited in juried group shows at, among others, Hood College, Morgan State University, Delaplaine Visual Art Center, Howard County Center for the Arts, and the Potters Guild of Baltimore.
Clay is a serious addiction; it continues to draw me in with the promise of the next pot.
